The Minneapolis Community and Technical College Nursing School Class of 2009 will be hosting its pinning ceremony on Friday, Dec.18 at 7 p.m. in the Whitney Fine Arts Theater. All are welcome to attend.

In an effort to prevent the spread of H1N1 and the seasonal flu, the Student Nurse Association working in conjunction with Amy Hruska, Safety Administrator of the Public Safety Department, posted proper hand washing technique posters in restrooms throughout the Minneapolis Community and Technical College campus. The most effective way for students, faculty and visitors to prevent the spread of the flu is to practice proper hand washing technique.

Wet hands with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, alcohol based hand sanitizers are effective.

Rub hands together for 20 seconds. Get under the fingernails and between the fingers.

Rinse under warm running water. Dry hands with clean paper towels. Turn off water with paper towel. Throw paper towel away.

Practice respiratory etiquette by covering your cough or sneeze with tissue or a sleeve.

Stay home if you experience flu like symptoms including fever greater than 100 degrees Fahrenheit or 38 degrees Celsius, have a cough, sore throat, body aches or a stuffy nose.
