Women cruise to easy victory over MN West

MINNEAPOLIS (Jan. 27, 2010) -- Behind 20 points from Brianna Blackhawk (So., Brooklyn Center, Minn.), the fourth-ranked Minneapolis Community and Technical College cruised to an easy win over Minnesota West Community and Technical College in women's basketball action tonight in Bowman Hall.

The Mavericks (19-2, 6-0) was led by Blackhawk and four others in double figures, while the Blue Jays (11-9) were led by a combination of Alyssa Smith (Fr., Worthington, Minn.) and Brenna Reints (So., Okabena, Minn.), who each had 12 points.

For Minneapolis, Sierra Howard (Fr., Bloomington, Minn.) and Erin Wahl (So., Blaine, Minn.) had 13 points and 12 rebounds, Erin Wahl (So., Blaine, Minn.) had 13 points, Natalye Horne (So., St. Paul, Minn.) had 12 points., and Krystal Queen (Fr., Richfield, Minn.) had 11 points and 9 rebounds. Blackhawk also had seven rebounds.

The Mavericks return to action on Jan. 30 when they travel to face the Fergus Falls Spartans. On Feb. 3, they take on the Rochester Yellow Jackets away from home before traveling to matchup with the Ridgewater Warriors on Jan. 6.

The Mavericks return home on Jan. 10, taking on the Riverland Blue Devils at 6 p.m.
