Up in the Air
G.R. Maierhofer
Jason Reitman's new film Up in the air is a masterpiece. The dry satire given by George Clooney, as well as the very serious content portrayed about a man trying to cope with what his life has become, make it one of the best works of writing in cinema this year.
The film depicts George Clooney as Ryan Bingham, a master at two things in life, motivational speaking about how people are better off alone, and firing people. He travels around the country, staying in hotels and traveling in cabs, enjoying the complementary things given to all travelers in America, and he truly enjoys it.
Finally he is met with a technological dilemma, his company begins introducing computer screens into the firing process and he is left having to travel around the country with Anna Kendrick's character, Natalie Keener, to help her get acquainted with the firing process.
The entire film is hilarious and satirical about the American working class. It makes you sympathetic to those among us who have to be traveling the country for years on end, and those of us who feel we shouldn't be connected with people around us. George Clooney and Twilight star Anna Kendrick will likely have quite a busy schedule walking back and forth on Oscar night, because this film is a great achievement, and writer Jason Reitman is all to thank for it.
The audience will constantly laugh, some may cry, and you will find yourself questioning certain moral aspects about the film in a very sincere way, this is truly a great movie and some of the most fun you will have in theaters this year, I cannot recommend Up in the air strongly enough, see it as soon as possible!
